A true Texas girl at heart, Jamie moved to the big apple to study fashion photography at F.I.T. After graduation, she began working in the industry from assisting photographers to working next to photo editors of magazines to becoming an in house commercial photographer. A little over a year ago, she took her first steps as a freelance photographer and started From Me To You, a fashion, food, lifestyle, art and travel blog where she posts projects she is working on, places she travels to and everyday musings. She always wishes she were in Paris and she dreams of owning an old home in the deep south with a porch swing for those slow, sweet days.
1) What are you wearing?
A vintage lace dress I got at a junk store in New York City for $15 or something cheap like that. The flower came off of a dress I bought at an estate sale for something like $5 and the feather I purchased at MJ Trimmings in NYC. I just pinned the pieces together to make a fun over-sized accessory. My peep toe shoes are Steve Madden and my feather handbag was a gift from a client.
2) What do you do for a living?
I am an editorial & commercial photographer. I shoot fashion, still life, lifestyle and as of recently food and travel.
3) Where do you live in New York?
I live on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and I’m in complete love with my neighborhood! Central Park is right out side my front door, how lucky is that?
4) What’s your favorite restaurant?
I don’t know if I have a favorite, I guess is I was going to pick a place to eat right now it would be Celeste. Good prices, amazingly fresh and homemade.
5) What’s your favorite bar/club/lounge?
There are so many wonderful places in NYC, however, my favorite place to have a nightcap is The Pink House in Savannah, Georgia. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Savannah and in the basement is a Piano bar with a huge fireplace, very cozy, and he plays all my favorite songs from Moon River to It Had to Be You.
6) What’s your significant other “type”?
Supportive, entertained, genuine, classic, family man.
7) What’s your favorite neighborhood?
I really love the West Village. The old buildings, little one of a kind restaurants and specialty shops, I find getting lost there really inspiring.
8) Where’s your favorite place to shop?
I love thrift and junk stores! Maybe it’s because growing up in Texas my Grandma and I would go shopping at them, but I love finding a treasure that is unique and surprising and cheap!
9) What’s your one must-have fashion item?
A circle skirt that comes to about the knee in a sold color. You can wear it year round.
10) What’s your “can’t live without it” beauty pick?
Red lipstick. Classic.
11) What three items are in your purse at all times, besides the obvious (keys, wallet, phone)?
Vintage pen set, sewing kit (because you never know) and a handkerchief. (Peep inside my purse in this post)
12) What does a “chic chick” mean to you?
Someone who eludes confidence and expresses who they are through their own sense of style.
13) What’s unique about your style?
A lot of my favorite pieces come from thrift stores so my look can be achieved relativity inexpensively. Classic is always in style!
