Beauty & Essex - Favorite New Restaurant
Beauty & Essex, the new restaurant by the Stanton Social guys (see my review here), has received a ton of buzz lately. The Lower East Side restaurant opened just three months ago and was featured in the New York Times this week, so to say its having a “moment” would be an understatement.
This past Saturday night, I managed to snag the impossible - a 9 pm reservation for...

We are always getting ready to live, but not living.
– Read on a subway ad last night en route home.
Do you ever feel this way?
I find myself and my life in this specific state - planning and focusing on the future and letting today, the here and now, slip right through my fingers. Days go by and sometimes I’m not sure what even transpired.

The Meatball Shop
On Sunday night of a 3-day weekend, five New Yorkers found themselves craving meatballs. It was obvious that their destination would be The Meatball Shop, the Lower East Side restaurant focused solely on the heavenly creation of meatballs. It’s small, loud, crowded, no-frills - but that’s exactly how it should be.
The 2 1/2 hour wait provided an obstacle, but we found refuge...

Gramercy Tavern
If I were to pick the ultimate classic New York restaurant, it would be Gramercy Tavern.
No ifs, ands or buts.
The food is tremendous and seasonal, but the warm decor and friendly service makes you feel comfortable. At home, even. Outside of Per Se (which is over the top, to say the least), Gramercy Tavern may very well be my favorite restaurant in Manhattan.
Joel and I have celebrated many...

SAY CHEEEEEESE!
I was recently informed of a hate website where people make fun of certain bloggers. Turns out, I recently made the ranks.
Finally!
I’m thrilled! Over the moon! My dreams have come true!
Turns out, my outfit photos are considered cheesy. How cool is that? I adore cheese. Fromage is my favorite!
In honor of cheese, here’s an extra slice.
Bon appetit!

Crispo: Chelsea Italian with Hits and Misses
Joel and I recently dined at Crispo to celebrate our friends’ engagement. We first tried it over a year ago and thought it was sublimely good Italian and while the Chelsea eatery’s food is still delicious, it is beat out by other Italian restaurants that I’ve tried since. Prime example? Otto, who’s Spaghetti Carbonara blows Crispo’s away.
With that said, I fell...

A Valentine's Day Wish
I don’t really care for Valentine’s Day.
I think it’s over-the-top, commercial and silly.
But…..
I do love my boyfriend and the little world we’ve created together.
And today, more than 6 months later, my heart still skips a beat when I look back at our photo-shoot with the incomparable Jamie of From Me To You.
Today, on Valentine’s Day, I’ll make a...

The Boyfriend Effect
What’s my #1 favorite item to wear while lounging around my apartment? One of my boyfriend’s button down shirts.
Today I decided to grab one, roll up the sleeves, tuck it into a structured pencil skirt, spice it up with some polka dot flair and take my love for crisp menswear out into the open.

Comfort from Head to Toe
I’m currently loving full-length skirts. In fact, it’s become a little joke in my office that I wear this dress too often because, well, I do. And when I’m not wearing it out, I’m wearing it at home.
Full-length comfort.
Forever and always.

Kingswood: Down Under Cuisine in the West Village
Any restaurant that puts a focus on brussel sprouts and truffle oil is a-okay in my book.
Kingswood does just that.
The Australian restaurant gets more buzz for its bar scene than its eatery, which doesn’t surprise me considering the elbow-to-elbow crowd at the bar during the entirety of our meal. And while everything was good, most plates could have used a tweak or two.

Shoe Question
A couple weeks/months ago, another Tumblr wrote about the perfect line of flats that I had never heard of before. I clicked over to the website and remember thinking “wow - these are SUPER cute. I should buy some of these for spring.”
Flash-forward and now I cannot remember who blogged it or the name of the shoe line.
Does anyone else remember this?
If so, please share.

The Gift of Warmth
Too icy to go outside.
Too cold in the new office to take off winter accessories.
Solution? Indoor “outfit of the day” to show off my new favorite hat, knit by one of my sweetest friends. It’s slouchy, soft and oh-so-warm.
Perfect for snow/icestorm #8 of 2011.

Sunday Brunch At Home
I bought little ramekins to make individual Macaroni and Cheeses for my New Years party and have loved using them since.
Why?
Ramekins somehow make any dish look a smidge more sophisticated.
Check out this past Sunday’s brunch menu, upgraded with help from my new ramekin buddies.
Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas
Mimosas with Honeybell Oranges
Baked Eggs with Bacon and Spinach...
