Englightening Evening
Last night Jordan of Ramshackle Glam (formerly of NonSociety) and her husband, Kendrick, came over to the new casa. Although this could be categorized as a “work” dinner, let’s be honest - there was oodles more laughter and gossip than discussions of “work”.
It’s obviously not my biz to discuss certain *ahem* controversial topics, but let’s just say...

Passover in New York
I may not have family in New York, but I do have wonderful friends that not only welcome me to their family events, but make me really feel like part of the group.
Case in point? Jordan and Matt invited Joel and I to their family’s Passover Sedar on the Upper East Side. My heart certainly ached to be at my own home, especially as we went around the table and told our own family Sedar...

Enraging Subway Story
A few days ago I was riding the subway and witnessed something that saddened, angered, infuriated and appalled me to the core. A young mother and her adorable red-headed toddler son entered the train. The little toddler was smiling, laughing and being too cute for words. Just a few seconds after boarding the train, the mother bent down and whispered something into her son’s ear. As I was...

Lotto Otto
Based on this past week, you’d think I was having a love affair with Mario Batali. However, I’m not so into overweight red heads with ponytails. I just happen to love, love, love his food. Saturday night, our growing group dined at Otto, Batali’s pizza, pasta, wine joint located smack dab in the middle of the Village right above Washington Square Park.
Although this is...

Calf Chow
Saturday morning, our group settled in at Sunburnt Calf, the UWS Aussie restaurant known for their “Endless Brunch” of unlimited cocktails. For $18, you get your choice of Brunch dishes and all-you-can-drink Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, Screwdrivers, Greyhounds or Beer. Quite a way to start a Saturday, right?
They also happen to have a unbelievable burger topped with a beet, slice...

Latin Flavor
Joel and I both had family in town visiting this weekend, which meant one thing: several big meals. First up? Calle Ocho on the Upper West Side.
This Latin restaurant is shockingly big, particularly for the UWS. The flavors? Even bigger.
Considering our exceptionally large group, I’ll only share highlights of the meal.
The pinnacle point of the meal was actually the beginning:...

An Epic Meal for an Epic Celebration
To ring in food connoisseur Kelly’s birthday (of Travel & Eats), we dined at the Zagat rated #1 NYC Italian restaurant and also one of Zagat’s “Top Food” rated NYC restaurants, Babbo. I previously celebrated my 23rd birthday here (check it out here, here and here) and yesterday spent my entire day on the edge of my seat with excitement to return.
I happen to think...

Awkward Dinner. Party of Four.
Let me set the scene.
Several nights ago.
The corner of Bedford and Grove, the quintessential block in the West Village.
Little Owl restaurant, which I’ve gushed over in the past.
Me. Joel. Joel’s ex-girlfriend. Joel’s ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend.
No, not middle school girlfriend. Actually, the gal prior to me.
And scene!
Yes, this had the potential to be an...

Elizabeth Arden: Not Your Grandma's Salon, Part...
A few weeks ago I wrote about my experience at the Fashion Week blogger lounge at the W, hosted by Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa and how I was thrilled to discover that its no longer your grandma’s Elizabeth Arden. And now, I have more details to share with you! This past weekend, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa invited yours truly to learn more about the evolving salon at their flagship 5th Avenue...

Sad Shoe Story with a Happy Ending
Scene: Sunday morning, 11 AM. Corner of Madison Avenue and 56th Street. As I stepped out of the taxi onto the sunny midtown sidewalk, I gave myself a mental pat on the back for starting the day off so early. With countless errands at hand, I envisioned a busy Sunday walking all over the city. I made my way five steps south on Madison before….SNAP! The strap of my Steve Madden Flat...

Hi. My Name is Casey and I'm an Anti-Shopaholic
I have shopping problems, but not the normal “I buy too much stuff” kind. Instead, I have an inherent aversion to buying when shopping.
Growing up, my mom would take me shopping often. However, when making a decision about what to actually buy, she would ask me “Do you really love this? Are you going to get a lot of wear out of it? Do you 100% want it?”
This is a...

Date Night
The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of moving, unpacking/organizing, traveling, sickness and of course, work. While my work schedule has calmed down a bit, Joel has been locked away in his office until the wee hours of the morning. Although absence does make the heart grow fonder, it’s important to regroup and have a good old fashioned date night. So where’d we go? Old...

She's a Model, You Know What I Mean
My office is full of some pretty fabulous people, including a couple professional bloggers. It’s only at work that I’m not the first one in the group to shout “oooh, let’s take a pic and blog this!” as someone else beats me to the punch.
So what happens when Lady Dixie comes to the Attention offices? She gets her picture taken. A lot. With a really fancy camera....
