Top 15 NYC Eats of 2010
It’s no secret that I have a love affair with food. In fact, my adoration for exquisite cuisine knows no bounds and 2010 proved to be a pinnacle year in gourmet exploration. After reviewing all the decadent food I stuffed in my mouth over the past year, it’s easy to see why I’ve put on a few pounds. But guess what? Every additional pound has been well worth it!
Here are the...

New York Blizzard 2010
Sorry folks, there aren’t any fun blizzard pictures here. The snow storm interfered with my longstanding trip to visit my best friend in Dallas, so besides a couple non-snow errands and meet-up with friends, I’ve been holed up in the apartment throwing myself a pity party.
Instead, I give you pictures of 2009’s Central Park snow adventure, otherwise known as Lady’s first...

The Exchange of Gifts
Joel and I got each other exactly what the other wanted. In fact, I’m not sure I even knew I wanted this specific present before, but am over the moon now that I have it.
Opening gifts in front of family goes something like this:
Obligatory “opening present” photo
“Thanks so much/kiss on the cheek” photo.
“You’re the best/let’s only hug a...

Holiday Entertaining with Robert Verdi
Last week I attended the Robert Verdi holiday entertaining event for bloggers. I actually attended on behalf of my boss, Felicia Sullivan.
She’s an A-list blogger. I’m more D-list.
Robert Verdi events are quiet notorious as being the blogger version of Oprah’s “Favorite Things” episode. Because the theme was “holiday entertaining”, each guest left...

Woes of Renting an Apartment in Manhattan
I’ve lived in Manhattan for 3 1/2 years and over this time I have lived in four apartments. FOUR! Just call me a nomad, I guess.
My apartment moves are the perfect reflection of my growing life here in Manhattan. As each year passed, my job became a career, a boyfriend became a serious relationship and my love for New York sucked me in.
First there was the East Village, fifth floor...

The Truth About My First Year In New York
Me: I just read this post about living in New York and I thought about us. That first year here seems almost like a dream. So crazy, yet so incredibly carefree and fun. I'm glad we went through it together.
Courtney: Me too.
Me: The end of the post reads: "When you leave the city, you probably won’t come back. Eventually your life in New York will seem so far away and sometimes you’ll even wonder if it really happened. Don’t worry. It did." Do you ever feel that way since you moved?
Courtney: No. I remember it like it was just yesterday because we lived in a cesspool, my job was horrible, and we lived next door to a one armed prostitute.

Tied with a Bow
I have been EXPLODING with holiday spirit the last couple days. I have a huge grin from ear-to-ear, some serious pep in my step and an unwavering need to spread cheer to everyone! There’s a strong chance I’m on an intense sugar high.
My outfit 100% reflects this festive mood. So does the attire of my coworker and modern-day Martha Stewart, Court&Hudson.
Cheer. Toasts. Hugs....

At Home at Balaboosta
In celebration of my mom’s S.O. (significant other), a group of us chowed down on Mediterranean at Balaboosta in Nolita.
Balaboosta, which means “perfect housewife” in Yiddish, is owned by Einat Admony, who also runs Taïm, which many New Yorkers consider the best falafel sandwich in the city.
Family photos and cookbooks add to the “homey” vibe, along with comforting, yet...

Breathtaking Engagement Photos
As I mentioned earlier today, one of my college friends, Erin, is tying the knot in January. Erin and her fiancé moved to New York only five months ago, but fell in love with the city so much so that they chose to take engagement photos here.
I was so blown away by the mesmerizing photos that I asked the happy couple if I could share them with you. They happily obliged.
Erin and Ozzy are...

Tea for Two
On Sunday, in the midst of a torrential New York downpour, my friend Erin and I threw up our pinkies and toasted her soon-to-be wedding day (my first friend to tie the knot!) with proper afternoon tea at Lady Mendl’s Tea Salon.
Although I think The Plaza’s stately tea is divine and find Alice’s Tea Cup to be perfectly girly, I prefer Lady Mendl’s in Gramercy Park above...

Significant Other's Work Party
A couple days ago, I joined my gentleman friend at his work holiday party at the Mandarin Oriental. If last year’s fete was any indication, I knew I was in for a festive evening this go round.
There was delicious food, bubbly drinks and jaw-dropping views of Columbus Circle, Central Park and midtown Manhattan. Plus, it gave me an excuse to purchase a new frock, which I loved so much that...

The Holidays at Apt #14DD
When it comes to the most wonderful time of the year, I can’t help but light up a little inside when I see Manhattan aglow in holiday spirit. I adore the glitz and glimmer on every corner, but for some reason never have decorated my apartment or owned a Christmas tree as an adult. Probably because my previous New York apartments were teeny weeny.
Until this year.
Joel surprised me with...

Baby, It's Cold Outside
I get it - during the winter, it gets cold. And surprisingly, even though it’s only a couple hours north, New York is quite colder than the Baltimore/DC, where I spent the first 21 years old my life.
With that said, I’ve never been one to wear a hat during the chillier months. Call me silly, but before 2010, I didn’t think I could pull off headwear. Now that I’m older and wiser (and...

New York December Weekend
If you have a day scheduled to enjoy New York 5th Avenue festive shopping and all its glory, you’re sure to be met with three things:
Enchanting holiday windows
Swarms of people stampeding the sidewalks
Few acceptable dining options
If you find yourself in such a scenario, make you way west to 57th Street and 6th Avenue and enter Le Parker Meridian. This snazzy hotel is not only home...

A Cold Lady + Me and My Capelet

Slapped in the Face by Old-Man Winter
Yesterday was the first day of December and in true New York seasonal ambiguity, it was 60 degrees. Imagine my surprise when I walked out of my Upper West Side apartment this morning only to be greeted by a ferociously cold 32 degrees! Basically, I was slapped silly by grumpy winter.
Nevertheless, one must brave the chill and take outfit photos. Am I right? I suppose. Especially when one...
